Handsome woman applying sunscreen on his shoulder

When you take good care of your skin, you can help minimize the outward signs of aging and decrease your risk for skin cancer. One of the most important things you can do for your skin on a daily basis is to wear sunscreen. With so many different choices on the market, it can be hard to decide which sunblock is right for you.

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends that you choose a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher that is water-resistant for at least 40 minutes. You should look for sunscreens that are broad-spectrum, meaning that they will protect you from both UVA and UVB rays. About one ounce of sunscreen should be enough to cover the exposed areas of your body and remember to reapply every so often for the most effective protection.

The skincare experts at Swinyer – Woseth Dermatology can help you create a skincare regimen so your skin will stay healthy for a long time to come. Call our Salt Lake City office at 801-266-8841 to schedule an appointment with one of our board-certified dermatologists.
