Before and After Radiesse

Skin aging is inevitable, but that doesn’t mean you can’t fight back. With Radiesse, your dermatologist can help you turn back the hands of time and reclaim a youthful appearance, all with a simple, in-office, non-surgical procedure. Is Radiesse the right answer to your skin-aging complaints? Here is what you need to know.

What is Radiesse?

Radiesse is an injectable dermal filler that is used to treat moderate to severe facial wrinkles, particularly the nasolabial folds. It is also the only dermal filler that is FDA-approved to treat the loss of skin volume on the back of the hands that is associated with aging. Radiesse consists of a water-based gel that is filled with microspheres made of calcium. After Radiesse is injected, it is slowly absorbed by the body at the same time that it stimulates collagen production. Ultimately, the Radiesse is replaced by collagen, so that the results look natural.

What Areas Can Be Treated Using Radiesse?

Radiesse is primarily used on the lower portion of the face. It can be injected into smile lines, marionette lines, chin wrinkles, pre-jowl folds, and around the corner of the mouth. It can also be injected into the hands. Radiesse is not typically used to treat the areas around the eyes, but it can be used in conjunction with other anti-aging treatments that address wrinkles in those areas for an overall more youthful appearance.

What Should I Expect if I Get Radiesse?

The process of getting Radiesse is fast, and because it is mixed with lidocaine, an anesthetic, it is less painful than other dermal filler treatments. You may experience minor bruising, swelling, or redness in the treatment areas, but this usually clears up quickly. You can resume your normal activities after your treatment, and you will notice your results immediately.
